For this installment of the NASA Racing Gear Store Move of the Month, NASA Northeast Super Touring 5 racer George Menabde started from the back of the pack because he was disqualified after the qualifying race at Watkins Glen for failing a dyno test.

The torque of the BMW M54 straight six is evident when the green flag waved, and that power put him in a position to take the outside line in Turn 1, and when we say outside line, we mean way outside. He said he had always wanted to drive out there to see what it was like, but he had a little trouble re-entering the track in the same position he left it.

“Turn 1 is usually where I go outside line, but this time was a little too much. I was basically all the way out to the concrete wall,” Menabde said. “It was just my dream to actually go that close to the wall. It took me the two laps I think to catch up with Dillon because he was going really fast. At one point, I was “Like oh my god, if this is how it’s going to be, it’s going to take it’s going to take a very long time.”

Turns out it only took two laps and Menabde went on to win ST5 in that race.
