In the race for position, the only lap that really matters is the last one.

NASA Great Lakes Spec Miata racers Wyatt Wood and Christopher Finnigan understand that, and it shows in their last lap battle for checkers. Dicing for position to see who would be second and who would be third on the podium, Wood gets a good run out of Turn 10 and gets alongside Finnigan on the outside as they head into Autobahn Country Club’s Turn 11.

The move puts him on the outside again for Turns 13 and 14 as he and Finnigan sprint toward checkers in a drag race to the finish. Wood inches ahead of Finnigan to take the hard-fought second spot on the podium in the kind of finish you always hope for.
