This is about all the competition saw of TJ Bain at the NASA Great Lakes event at Mid-Ohio in August. Bain took the American Iron wins on Saturday and Sunday.

NASA Great Lakes returned to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course August 26-28 for a Blind Madness themed event. This was a sold out event!

In American Iron qualifying on Saturday, TJ Bain in his white Firebird was on pole. Followed by Jason Lakomiak and Mickey Remen in third, and Audrey Zavodsky in fourth. American Iron Extreme saw a resurgence at Mid-Ohio with a five-car field! Paul Faessler led the pack with his crazy fast 1965 turbocharged Mustang, with Elliott Fisher in second and Michael Naab in third.

At the start, Bain got stuck in traffic at Madness. Audrey Zavodsky timed the start perfectly, bounced past Lakomiak and pushed through traffic to get the lead. Lakomiak battled Remen with Bain behind. Lakomiak tried an outside move coming down the hill in Madness, but spun into the grass on the right hand side.

Bain passed Zavodsky in Turn 6 to get the lead and finished first, with Zavodsky in second and Remen third.

In AIX Faessler quickly drove away from the field and got the win with a fast lap time of 1:31.423. Elliott Fisher was also flying with a 1:33.626. He came in second. In Spec Iron, Jeff Feit got the win in the Andrew-Racing Mustang.

A Saturday night downpour gave us a damp track for Sunday. Sunday also switched to the Mid Ohio Club Course, which adds a chicane before entering the Keyhole.

Bain was on pole, Lakomiak was in second, and Remen in third. Remen passed Lakomiak and Bain immediately at the start! Lakomiak followed Remen to the inside of Turn 6 and Bain got shuffled back again. Lakomiak hounded Remen for a few laps until Remen slide sideways in the chicane and Lakomiak got by. Lakomiak led for a few laps, but slowed to avoid hitting a slow-moving car at the exit of the Keyhole. Bain got the win, with Lakomiak in second and Remen third.

Paul Faessler easily got the win in AIX and set a new track record of 1:31.980! Elliott Fisher was second. Issues with Audrey Zavodsky’s dynanometer certification on Saturdya moved her into AIX for Sunday. She finished third. In Spec Iron, Jeff Feit got the win in the Andrew-Racing Mustang.
