Robert Woodhouse drove his beautiful Viper Competition Coupe to the win in TT1 on Saturday at Motorsports Ranch.

NASA Texas had a great event for round two of the 2015 season at Motorsport Ranch, March 14 and 15. The weather was mild and the 220 NASA entries was a record high for any series at the MSR facility.

Time Trial had 31 entries and competition was fierce, with four classes topping five cars or more. On Day 1, TT class records for the 1.7-mile course were toppled in TTF, TTD, TTC, TTB, TT2 and TT1. Josh Dunn was fastest in TT2 with his Evo, which he also races in ST2. Doug Wirth was the surprise winner in TTB, resetting the old track record by more than 2 seconds with his E36 M3 running Hoosier R7 tires. Amy Fair won TT3 in her 2011 Mustang for Team Vorshlag, using a scrub set of Hoosier A6 tires, while I drove our second team entry in TTC – a 1992 Corvette. After fighting car problems I only managed two laps and second place behind Mark Schnoerr, who won in his E36 M3. Robert Woodhouse drove his beautiful Viper Competition Coupe to the win in TT1 over Troy Messer and Ricardo Price won a 3 car TTD class in his Miata. David Whitener took the TTF win and track record in a CRX, wrapping up the TT classes for Saturday.

Day two was cooler and overcast, but the rain held off and we had short periods of sunshine during TT sessions two and three. Troy Messer had TT1 to himself on Sunday but Michael Perkins jumped into the big TT2 class with his Z06 Corvette and took the win and track record away from Saturday’s winner Dunn. TT3 was still five strong on Sunday and Amy Fair let me drive our Team Vorshlag Mustang to the win, ahead of Andrew Stevens’ Z06. With a V8 240SX in third, an EVO in fourth and a Nismo 350Z in fifth, TT3 class showed lots of variety.

TTB was hotly contested on Sunday and Dysen Pham took his dyno-reclassed S2000 to the top and stole the track record away from Wirth by .3 seconds, with Hoosier R7s again the tire of choice. This class also had variety with the S2000, M3, Porsche 996, Honda Civic and an Audi A4. NASA Texas Director Will Faules jumped into an E36 M3 and won TTC and reset the class track record on Sunday, besting Saturday winner Schnoerr. Ricardo Price held on for the TTD win again, besting second place Nathan Wainwright’s Miata. Last but not least, Kim Whitener took the TTE win in her CRX over Eric Johnson’s Miata.
