With the advent of the brand-new Advan A055 racing semi slick, Yokohama Tire has signed on as NASA’s newest national partner.

In an agreement that spans the 2022 and 2023 racing seasons, Yokohama Tire joins a long list of NASA National partners. Yokohama’s new Advan A055 racing slick presents another viable DOT option for competitors in open-tire classes such as Super Touring, Time Trial, enduros and NASA’s German Touring Series.

The A055 features alternating twin grooves to maximize the contact patch, and uses an advanced motorsport compound to provide exceptional dry grip. Distribution will be handled by Yokohama’s existing dealer network, Tire Rack and Trackside Performance.

Yokohama also will be sponsoring the popular “Move of the Month” in Speed News. Each month, NASA members will vote on which “Move of the Month” is their favorite, and that driver will receive a Yokohama-sponsored plaque to commemorate it. More details will be forthcoming on that program.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Yokohama Tire as our latest NASA National partner,” said NASA COO Jeremy Croiset. “Yokohama Tire is a global corporation with a long history of success in motorsport. It offers a portfolio of performance tires that are ideally suited for NASA members, whether they compete in Time Trial or racing, or participate in our HPDE program.”

Establishing value-adding partnerships is critical to the success of any sanctioning body, professional or amateur. It helps strengthen the sanctioning body and gives its competitors more options to achieve that “unfair advantage” they’re all looking for.

“NASA is an organization that is focused on growth, with great programs to attract new drivers to motorsports, teach them valuable skills and give them lots of different ways to participate and compete,” said Drew Daytona, senior product manager for Yokohama Tire. “The Yokohama product line is a perfect complement to NASA’s activities, and we’re excited to see where this partnership will lead.”
