The key to creating a captivating spec racing series is delivering a compelling car, devising rules for parity and healthy competition, and doing all of that with an eye toward value.
Those were the driving factors in selecting the Continental Extreme Contact Force, the new spec tire for NASA’s Corvette Cup, a spec class centered on the Chevrolet Corvette C5 and C6 chassis with an emphasis on cost containment. Tire sizes for the class reflect a square setup at P315-30-18, and will be available to Corvette Cup class participants for $370 apiece from providers like TrackDayTire.com, NASA’s official tire supplier.
“We wanted to steer back to our roots. Choosing a tire for this class that focused on lowering costs, while at the same time increasing reliability for our Corvette Cup competitors was paramount,” said NASA CEO Jeremy Croiset. “Through feedback and internal testing, we discovered that the Continental Extreme Contact Force delivered an extreme level of value for the money. It is the easiest to drive on for drivers of all skill levels, and even more important, it delivers unmatched durability and consistency, which will translate into a drastic reduction in operational costs for class competitors.”
The tire announcement comes at the same time as the update to the rules for 2026. Furthering the idea of cost containment, the Continental ECF tire also will be the spec tire for wet weather competition. A robust contingency program will be announced in early 2026.
“We’re proud to join NASA as both an official tire partner and the spec tire supplier with the ExtremeContact Force for the Corvette Cup class,” said Brian Beierwaltes, Head of Marketing, Continental Tire. “This selection reflects the confidence NASA has in Continental Tire’s ability to deliver consistent, high-performance products that supports their highly competitive racing. The ExtremeContact Force was engineered to provide the durability, predictability, and performance drivers demand, and we’re excited to help elevate the on-track experience for Corvette Cup competitors in 2026.”
