Hoosier has listened to the feedback and collected the appropriate data to adopt a more durable tread compound for the 944 Spec class, which is a top priority among drivers in this series.

There are a couple of changes for 944 Spec drivers need  to make note of. Before the switch to the new tread compound, production tires starting the week of May 25 will now have the “H” logo engraved on the tread surface. The tire is no different than the new A8/R8 product line. The sidewall will remain unchanged and continue to use the previous “A7/R7” design.

The important thing to note is that, Hoosier does not recommend combining the new “H” pattern tires with the non-H tires.

“We like to think of NASA as an agile company, responsive to the needs of its members, which is what makes it so nice to work with partners like Hoosier,” said NASA CEO Jeremy Croiset. “Hoosier took the feedback and data and has now begin offering a tire with the wear characteristics our drivers have been asking for.”

The more durable tread compound is available through Hoosier retailers. Remember that the H pattern also is still available, so check with NASA’s official tire supplier TrackDayTire.com to request the more durable compound.
