A few track records were set during the NASA Championships and that includes ST4. On a previous visit to the track a couple of years ago, Scott Smith set the ST4 track record only to see it taken away a few months later by Matt Wilson with Road Motorsports.

So that was high on his mind when he returned to Ozarks International Raceway for the 2025 NASA Championships, but a 2:34 in ST4 trim is flying, and Smith was trying to win the Championships race.

“So two years ago I set the record, the track was still kind of new and ST4 hadn’t come around much and it was taken away a couple months later by the Road Motorsports guys, and they have a video on YouTube. And so part of my mission was to beat that,” Smith said. “They’re good guys and they came into Utah and we chatted a bunch.”

Smith wasn’t sure if he could manage his tires and go fast enough to get the new track record, but he did it, beating the previous record with a 2:32.789.

“But the times just kept ticking down,” Smith added, “and I got several 32’s and I’m so happy. So stoked.”
