There’s nothing like taking your first green flag as a rookie. NASA Arizona Super Touring racer Tyler Hinz got his first real race start at Inde Motorsports Park. With lots of different classes on track, Hinz found out just how competitive Super Touring racing is in the Arizona Region.

Once the field settled in, Hinz began chasing the 350Z and waiting for his opportunity to make a move. His car is a bit better suited to ST5 competition, but he classed into ST4 with the Z because he did not want to add ballast.

“The exciting part about it was just the multi-class aspect of it. Tage (Evanson) in the Civic came through because he had spun at the start, so there was a little bit of diciness there, and then I was holding up an ST1 Corvette for a bit,” Hinz said. “Once he got by, then that move on the 350Z kind of created itself. And in the midst of that, I didn’t realize that the Civic behind me had snuck his nose up there. And so it was just my first taste of wheel-to-wheel action.”

Looking forward to seeing more Super Touring action from the Arizona Region.
