This one is a lot of fun, and there’s a lot to pay attention to, chiefly the mirrors and the excellent data display.

NASA Northeast Spec Miata racer Daniel Reinhart was battling Dean Lambros for the second step on the podium on the last lap of the first race of the weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Lambros made a move to the inside of Turn 5, and Reinhart managed to hold him off, but he knew Lambros was going to come at him again in Turn 7.

“I defended the inside. That compromised my line, and he swung wide through 8 to get the inside position for Turn 9,” Reinhart said. “Rather than fighting him around the outside and risking grip loss, I lifted slightly and set up an over-under move exiting 9, which let me get a strong run onto the front straight.”

Reinhart was back to full throttle before Lambros had completed the pass, and that was enough to give him the advantage on the long run through turns 11 and 11a, through Turn 12 and onward to checkers. Fun stuff.
