When two cars ahead of you are obviously going to go side-by-side through the Kink at Carolina Motorsports Park, you can kind of see it as an opportunity, as did NASA Southeast Thunder Roadster racer Patrick Altier.

This week’s installment of the NASA Racing Gear Store Move of the Month is a testament to the closeness of the racing on Thunder Roadster in NASA Southeast. Altier has two cars ahead in his sights as he plots his way around them. When the driver of the white car, then rookie, Adam Hopkins, commits to the inside line, he has to brake momentarily to make the turn.

Altier lifts to half throttle briefly, if the data system is to be believed, so you know the driver of the yellow car, Lee Shierts, has to lift even more because he doesn’t have a clean racing line at his disposal. As Altier exits the Kink, it’s all over but for the heartache as he takes both cars on the outside, giving himself the inside line for Turn 11, and goes on to take the win. Well played.
