Jim Fluharty of NASA Southeast started from 46th in his Thunder Roadster at the Roebling Road Raceway event in April, and had worked his way up to 14th overall. Racing in only his third weekend with NASA, Fluharty had advanced to seventh in class when he had considerable contact with a Honda Challenge car that had dropped a wheel on the outside of the turn and had begun to spin across track. The front impact damaged body panels and bent the frame. The second hit damaged the rear axle housing, axle, shock, wheel, control arms and panhard bar. However, Fluharty repaired the damage in time to go racing at Road Atlanta the following month.
