The full-course caution helped Kenneth Smith take the win in ST3.

Kenneth Smith started from pole in the eight-car ST3 field, followed by Michael McAleenan, who won the GTS4 race earlier in the day. Matt Mandino started in third, followed by Don Dillon and Daniel Wennerberg, who took second in GTS4 that same day.

Despite the lengthy full-course caution, when the Davidson Racing Eagle blew its engine in the “Witchcraft” bend, Smith held on to take the win. At checkers, Wennerberg had scored another second-place finish, followed by Mandino in his air-cooled Porsche 911.

In addition to his podium in GTS4, Daniel Wennerberg also took second in ST3.

“The double yellow really helped me,” Smith said. “We are running sticky tires, so the caution helped me to cool them down. It was a great weekend. We really ran consistently the whole week. The car was handling and hooking well out of the corners. I want to thank Greg Dansbury and Power Grid for their help. It was a great run. Everyone ran clean. I am really excited.”
