With a combination of sunny skies and torrential downpouring rains, NASA Southeast Time Trial took to the 14 turns and 2.3 miles that make up Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C. for the first of three scheduled events at the venue during the 2025 season. The rain showers forecast for Saturday held off long enough for Saturday’s competition to be completed with a dry track throughout the day, which saw a total of 24 Time Trial drivers and vehicles cross the start/finish line during competition.

The two biggest classes for the weekend were in TT4 and TT6, with five competitors in each. TT4 competition saw the No. 55X Honda S2000 of Ray Drake take P1 honors during Saturday’s and Sunday’s competitions, with the No. 843 Honda Civic of Jason Scarbrough taking the P2 spot for both days, and the No. 113 Nissan 350Z of Neil Kohler securing a P3 finish both days.

Competition for the fastest lap in TT6 on Saturday saw the P1 spot go to the No. 23 Mazda Miata of Will Benson, with P2 and P3 going to the No. 9 Mazda Miata of Nishant Patel and the No. 5 Mazda Miata of Cristian Romero, respectively. Sunday’s competition saw a swap between the P1 and P2 positions from Saturday, with Patel taking the top honors for the day in P1, and Benson dropping to the P2 spot. Cristian Romero rounded out the podium by matching his Saturday P3 finish with the same finishing spot on Sunday.

In TT2, Saturday started with three competitors vying for fastest lap, with the No. 16 Ford Mustang GT350 of Troy Coates taking the P1 spot over the No. 54 Porsche GT4 of rookie, Larry Beresnoy in P2, and the No. 269 Chevrolet Camaro of John Taylor in P3. By the time the cars lined up on grid for Sunday’s competition, only the No. 16 of Troy Coates remained in the class to take the P1 spot with Taylor being forced to bow out on Saturday due to a seized brake caliper, and Beresnoy opting out of Sunday’s competition due to the raining and/or wet conditions on track.

Troy Coates took P1 in TT2 over the No. 54 Porsche GT4 of rookie, Larry Beresnoy in P2, and the No. 269 Chevrolet Camaro of John Taylor in P3. Coates also took first in TT2 on Sunday.

TT3 competition for Saturday and Sunday saw P1 go to the No. 11 Toyota Supra of Brady Sutton, with P2 going to veteran TT driver Gary Tricket in the No. 706 BMW M3. With one competitor in each class, TT1 and TTGT classes saw the No. 1X Chevrolet Corvette of Fred Evans, and the No. 53 Chevrolet Camaro of Chris Lewis respectively take the P1 position on both days of competition.

In TT3 competition Saturday and Sunday, the No. 11 Toyota Supra of Brady Sutton took the win both days, with P2 going to veteran TT driver Gary Tricket in the No. 706 BMW M3.

The TT5 class began competition on Saturday with three competitors, ending with the No. 92 Honda S2000 of Steve Dotson taking P1, the No. 18 BMW Spec E9X of Roy Parsons taking P2, and the No. 66 BMW 328i of Steven Grayson in P3. Sunday’s competition finished without the No. 18 of Parsons turning a lap, which left the P1 spot remaining in the hands of Dotson, and Grayson securing the P2 position.

TT1 and TTGT classes saw the No. 1X Chevrolet Corvette of Fred Evans, and the No. 53 Chevrolet Camaro of Chris Lewis respectively take the P1 position on both days of competition. Both drivers ran unopposed.

Rounding out the field was the TTU class with three entries shooting for the top spot, with P1 going to the No. 13 Mitsubishi Evo of Lane Lazzaro for both days of competition, and P2 going to the No. 25 Mazda Miata of Michael Kitchens for Saturday’s results, but with the No. 238 old school Acura Integra of Andy Meek taking the P2 during Sunday’s competition when Kitchens did not record a competitive lap.

During Time Trial Target competition, where consistency in lap times wins the day, Saturday’s TTT competition, the No. 55X Honda S2000 of Ray Drake took home the coveted TTT T-shirt with a slim time delta of just 0.446 seconds combined between his four fastest laps. Top TTT honors during Sunday’s competition, which was badly skewed by the morning’s torrential rains, went to the No. 5 Mazda Miata of Cristian Romero, with a combined delta of 5.583 seconds between his four fastest laps.

Neil Kohler in is No. 113 Nissan 350Z of Neil Kohler secured a P3 finish in TT4 both days.
