In a thrilling weekend of racing, top NASA SoCal Super Touring drivers clashed on the racetrack, putting their skills and machines to the ultimate test at Willow Springs International Raceway in May. The weather was as hot as the action on track.

Super Touring 1

Richard Gray took the win in the Super Touring 1 class on Saturday. Gray, driving his black and silver Mazda Elan NP01 sponsored by Range Realty and 949 Racing, set the fastest lap time of 1:29.461 in his ninth lap.

 

Super Touring 2

On Saturday, Jeff Gray piloted his red and black Audi RS3 LMS, sponsored by Speed One Motorsports, to take first place in the Super Touring 2 class, with a best lap time of 1:28.952. Greg Laube, also racing an Audi RS3 LMS, but this time in dark grey, and sponsored by Speed One Motorsports, suffered a mechanical and pulled off track early in the race.

On Sunday, however, Laube managed to outperform Gray, setting a best lap time of 1:28.652 and gaining first place in the Super Touring 2 class, leaving Gray behind by a lap, despite Gray having a slightly faster best lap time of 1:28.627.

Super Touring 3

Marc LaCorte, in his yellow Chevrolet Corvette, sponsored by Schecter Guitars, secured first place on Saturday in the Spec Corvette Super Touring 3 class, setting his best lap time of 1:29.737. John Nguyen was behind LaCorte by 4.016 seconds, setting his best lap time of 1:30.249.

Super Touring 4

Team Land Yacht Racing took the top spot in the Super Touring 4 class on both days of the weekend. Their white Infiniti G37S had a best lap time of 1:31.322 on Saturday and 1:33.429 on Sunday.

Super Touring 5

Saturday’s Super Touring 5 class saw Team Indotech Motorsports taking the first position with a best lap time of 1:39.694 in their purple Mazda Miata. They were closely followed by Wilson Lam, who was behind by just .060 seconds, with a best lap time of 1:38.694 in his red Mazda Miata.

However, Sunday saw a shuffle in the positions. Team Rotary Heads took the lead with their white Mazda Miata, posting a best lap time of 1:37.409. Wilson Lam and his red Mazda Miata fell to second place, with a time difference of 43.645 seconds from the first position.

Super Unlimited

In the Super Unlimited class, Timothy Carel driving his white and green Pescarolo 02, sponsored by Fast Toys Club, stood victorious on both days. Carel set the best lap time of 1:54.950 on Saturday and further improved it to 1:46.737 on Sunday.

The weekend was a fantastic display of competitive racing, as drivers showcased their skills and race craft in an exhilarating spectacle of high-speed battles and tactical maneuvers. Congratulations to all the winners, and we look forward to the June event at Buttonwillow.
