How many times have you been under the hood trying to detach an electrical connector when one of three things happens? It comes off; it does not come off; or it breaks. Sometimes your hands and fingers are not strong enough to pull them off and sometimes the plastic is weakened to the point of breaking. That’s where Lisle’s new electrical connector pliers come in handy, a nifty little tool we discovered at the PRI Show.
Available in straight and 60 degree configurations, these pliers easily remove locking push-tab style electrical connectors found on mass air flow sensors, fuel injectors, ignition coils and other applications. Use the hook on the end of the pliers to pull out tab to unlock the connector and then use the point to engage the tab.
Narrow knurled tips provide extra grip when removing connector in tight spaces. The tool is 8 inches long and made from forged carbon steel for extra strength and durability, and comes with a spring in the handle for one-handed use. Dual material grips provide a comfortable grip. Prices are right around $35 for each at time of publication.
