SFI Foundation Discovers Counterfeit SFI Labels on Tanaka Belts

The SFI Foundation has issued an advisory that some Tanaka latch-and-link five-point belts being sold through Ebay and Amazon have counterfeit SFI labels. These belts do not meet SFI 16.1 safety standards.

It’s also important to note that Tanaka was removed from the SFI 16.1 program in 2019 due to testing failures and unauthorized use of SFI labels. Because safety equipment is so important, it’s not the place to save money. Rather than buying from Amazon or Ebay, NASA members should take advantage of many of the discounts offered through NASA’s Member Benefits program.
