Due to a shorter off season in some NASA regions and supply chain delays, the NASA National Office has announced a grace period for the fire system requirement in racecars published in the latest edition of the NASA Club Codes and Regulations.
NASA racers will have until 2023 to meet the fire system requirements.
“A fire system is essential to safety in racing applications, and we hope our racers can get them installed as soon as possible, but factors beyond our control have made the requirement a bit cumbersome at this point,” said NASA Vice President Jeremy Croiset. “We know a lot of drivers hustled to get systems in their cars already, and we applaud them for doing that, but the reality is people are going to need more time to meet the requirement. We hope this grace period helps.”
