We talk a lot about the NASA family, and this is what it means to be part of it. Last week, Speed News shared the GoFundMe page that was started on behalf of NASA Texas member Pat Welch, who was diagnosed with throat cancer. The generosity of NASA members raised enough money to cover the Welch’s living expenses while they were in Houston at MD Anderson where he underwent treatment.
“Thank you for sharing this in Speed News! The outpouring of love and support has been so uplifting to my family and me,” Welch said. “I can’t say enough about the folks in the Texas Region who stepped up to help, especially Will Faules, who found our fund page that was started by friends in Midland, Texas, where we live. NASA is a wonderful auto racing and HPDE organization that promotes fun, friendly competition in a safe environment. But when it comes time to help one of their own in need, they are indeed remarkable.”
