The 2024 NASA Championships are speeding into view, and the event is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent history, with lots of hometown favorites set to do battle with hot shoes from NASA regions nationwide.

For those coming to Utah and those who want to follow the event online, NASA just released the schedule for the 2024 Championships, which highlights some of the great competition we’ll be treated to in Utah.

In the race groups, Spec Miata leads the roster with the highest number of entries at 36 cars, and will race in its own run Group B. American Iron Extreme will race in Group A with the Super Touring 2, 3 and 4 cars. In Group C, it’s Deutschland uber alles, with Spec E46, Spec E30 and 944 Spec all taking separate flags in one group.

The fastest cars in all of NASA, Super Unlimited, GT, Super Touring 1, GTSU and the NP01 NASA Prototype all will race together in Group D. NASA’s Camaro-Mustang Challenge, Super Touring 5 and 6, Spec Z and the Legends cars all will race in Group E.

With a record number of 84 entries, Time Trial categories will be divided into three run groups based on speed. TTEV, TT2 and TT3 will run in the same group. Time Trial Unlimited, TTGT and TT1 will share the track at the same time, and TT4, TT5 and TT6 will run together.

Paddock Car Meet and Vendor Village

This year’s championships also will feature a vendor and food truck village and a car meet that is free to display at and free to attend. The car meet runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Spectators also are welcome at this year’s NASA Championships, and admission is free on all days. Bring the kids and have them sit down with the face painter who will be on hand.

For competitors and their guests and crew, there is a Friday night happy hour at the LVRY building at 5 o’clock followed by a dinner from 6 to 8:30.

Championships Photography

We have three exceptional photographers slated to shoot the event this year, all of them seasoned professionals at Utah Motorsports Campus.

Stefen Jones, Rich Jellerson and Jonathan Chen will be on hand capturing all the magic and racing action this year. Competitors can order packages online in advance for $120, which will included 20 to 30 photos.

All packages can be ordered through the Jones Avenue Photo website, which will include the images and work of all three photographers. Order your packages in advance so you can focus on racing when you get to the track.

Opening Ceremonies

Sunday’s opening ceremonies will precede the Time Trial groups hitting the track to take their best shot at a fast lap. The livestream of the ceremonies will include a color guard and a national anthem singer and interviews with drivers and visiting dignitaries. Ceremonies begin around 7:40 a.m. Mountain Time.

More announcements are coming in the next few weeks as the event draws nearer. Stay tuned.
