NASA is excited to announce the opening of registration for Teen Mazda Challenge. Registration will open Friday, March 17 for the 2023 season, which concludes its points accumulation mid-October to align with the time frame for Mazda’s MX-5 Cup Shootout.

The NASA Teen Mazda Challenge is a unique program designed specifically for young drivers coming out of karting, and other youth motorsports. Drivers who are older than 13 and no more than 20 years old by the time of their region’s first race of the season are provided opportunities to help them advance their racing career, such as eligibility to compete in Mazda’s annual MX-5 Cup Shootout, which boasts a grand prize scholarship valued at $110,000 applicable to a season of racing in the professional sports car series Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires.
“Climbing the motorsports ladder with the hope of becoming a professional driver is no easy task, but young drivers represent the future of motorsport, and we’re proud to partner with Mazda on the Teen Mazda Challenge,” said NASA Teen Mazda Challenge national director Brett Becker. “Teen Mazda Challenge gives those young drivers the opportunity to jump into sports car racing at a younger age than any other national racing sanctioning body. Ultimately, their success is as dependent on their performance on track as it is on all of the other business, engineering and marketing activities that accompany professional motorsports, but Teen Mazda Challenge gets them pointed in the right direction. It’s a great program.”
