Entries are already piling in for Brock Yates’ Tire Rack One Lap of America event for 2022, so if you want to be part of the fun, now is the time to enter and begin preparing.

A NASA-sanctioned event, Tire Rack One Lap of America happens every spring and it has attracted competitors from all across the country, with amateurs sometimes facing off against the likes of Randy Pobst or Ross Bentley.

Teams travel from track to track, then attempt to set the fast lap at each one to build a points total that will win one of the One Lap’s 13 classes or the coveted overall podium. Your car must be insured and street legal and you must have a NASA membership. You do need a fire suit, fire bottle, road flares and a first-aid kit, but because this is a time-based competition, a roll cage is not required. Sounds easy, right? Well there is a catch.

You have to run the entire event on one set of tires. Harder than it looks.

If you’d like to know what it’s like to run the One Lap of America, you can read Rob Krider’s excellent feature here. He and two teammates took on the One Lap event in May 2021 and won the Economy Car class in a Ford Fiesta ST, then drove home to California on the same set of tires.  There’s also a good video about the One Lap on YouTube.
