Lemons of Love is a charity that provides care packages, support and community to those impacted by cancer. Lemons of Love believes all people living with cancer can benefit from the power of human connection.
Why lemons? When a patient undergoes chemotherapy, it leaves an awful taste in his or her mouth. The only thing that gets rid of it is the flavor of lemon. The care packages contain such things as lemon drops, organic ginger tea to settle upset stomachs that often come with chemotherapy, chocolate-covered blueberries and other goodies to help lift a patient’s spirits.
One of the organization’s chief fundraising efforts is raffling off an MX-5 Global Cup car each year. The charity awarded one in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and it’s raffling off another one in 2020. The drawing will take place May 19, 2020 at 4 p.m. at Sebring International Raceway. Winners need not be present to win. There also will be monthly giveaways of smaller prizes in the months leading up to the big drawing.
