There’s a million ways to be late to grid, and all of them wind up being excuses. Back in March, we highlighted a life hack for ensuring you get to HPDE grid on time: writing the times of your sessions on your wristband.

Taking it a step further, you can employ a little technology and use your smart phone alarm to ping you when it’s time to suit up and head out. Another way to ensure timeliness is to park near a loudspeaker.

Getting to grid on time gives you time to settle the butterflies and focus. It gives you time to visualize your lap and start your session with a good vibe.

  1. Rather than using alarms, I create Google Calendar entries for all my sessions as soon as I get the schedule, though they can sometimes change.
