Two years out of the driver’s seat is a long time in racing, so it makes sense that a returning driver would be a bit conservative rather than aggressive in Turn 1 and lap one in his first race back. How does the old saying go….? you will never win a race in the first corner, but you can sure lose one. Looks like the camera car made the best decision by lifting early. Car to the inside needs to be certain they can complete the pass safely before they initiate the pass.
