This installment of the NASA Racing Gear Store Move of the Month highlights some great racing and the power of persistence at one of the most unsung tracks in North America.

NASA Rocky Mountain Spec Miata racer Christian Gani started from P8 and gained two spots by midrace at High Plains Raceway, and that is when the fun started. Mixed in with 944 Spec traffic the P6 through P3 Spec Miatas raced nose to tail for the last half of the race.

“You can’t really see it in the video but we were issued two white flags. The first at 22:28 and then again at 24:41,” Gani said. “You can actually see me come out of the throttle only to realize that my SM competitors ahead of me were strangely still giving it the beans! I glance over to the Start/Finish line to see the flagman waving the white much to my amazement at 25:10.”

Gani got back up on his competitors at the end of the long back straightaway and picked up two spots in Turn 6. With a large gap between himself and P3, Gani puts his head down and reels him in as they head into the Prairie Corkscrew. Gani carries a lot of speed and nails the exit, which allows him to advance to P3 just before the Start/Finish line. As you can see, Gani is pretty happy with his finish.

  1. I think you’ve gotten away from the essence of what a Move Of The Month is supposed to be about. It should be one move, one maneuver. Not a full lap or in this case the better part of a race. Maybe briefly show how it developed, but this is too much. Now don’t get me wrong, this is great racing. But it has definitely morphed into something else.
