Nothing will change your priorities in a race like having to make repairs on the hot pits during the warmup lap, then seeing your field take the green flag as your crew looks for the problem under the hood. That’s exactly what happened to Hunter Lydic at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, site of the 2023 NASA Championships. Once he got the car fixed, the field was gone, so Lydic put his head down and set about gaining back as many positions as he could. He ended up finishing fourth of 10 cars. That kind of drive might come in handy next September.
