Sometimes a good move can be the result of skill. Other times it involves a bit of luck. Sometimes it takes both. We’re not sure which factor gets more credit in this clip, but anytime a racer can get through a melee like this, it’s definitely a good move.
NASA racer John Mueller was chasing after 14-year-old Ernie Francis Jr. on the second to the last lap of the race at Mid-Ohio when they caught the traffic in front of them. Well, it wasn’t for no reason at all. Just as the pack ahead of them entered the carousel, the carnage began, with cars spinning, hitting tire walls and paying the price for the mayhem. That is, everyone except Mueller. Once he saw the two cars diverge in front of him, he got back on the gas and squeaked through with just an ample tap on the left rear.
