This one is a scream. NASA SoCal driver Nik Romano, who usually races his Lexus IS300 in Super Touring 5, had the chance to drive a friend’s Spec E46 in a qualifying race at Buttonwillow Raceway in June. The title sequence a few minutes into the video says Streets of Willow, but it takes place at Buttonwillow.
Qualifying races are shorter, so drivers need to make things happen in a hurry to finish well, and Romano comes up just short of a podium finish, starting from 13th and finishing fourth, and setting a new track record on a configuration he’d never driven before. The video is all the more enjoyable with a split screen that shows his footwork, and some interesting characters on the bottom of the screen when he doinks a shift. Enjoy.

Awesome race! You certainly didn’t drive it like it was your friend’s car. You drove it like you stole it!
BW is a fun track – that last flying lap you nailed it! So nice to learn from a talented driver!
