Well, if you’re going to start second and finish fourth, it’s probably OK if you have as much fun as Ben Winter did in his Spec E30 at Sonoma Raceway in May. It sure looked like fun, and it’s worth noting this was the first weekend the Spec E30s were using the new Maxxis Tires, so everyone was on a learning curve.
Winter started from second, and encountered a double-yellow after one lap of racing. When racing resumed, traffic had bunched up like it always does, and Winter had to find a new line through Sonoma’s Turn 8. He lost a couple of spots as a result of the agricultural work, but he remained within striking distance of the lead three for a bit, and when the checkers flew, Winter finished fourth.
