Sometimes a little traffic is all it takes to endanger a lead you’ve worked hard all race to maintain. That’s kind of what happened to Rocky Mountain Region Spec Z racer Garrett Kasten of Team Pirate Racing. In the closing lap at High Plains Raceway, one of the most interesting tracks in the country, Kasten comes up on some traffic and lifts a bit. That’s all NASA Utah racer and Spec Z champion driver Tom Kaminski needed to fill his mirrors then make the pass on the outside of Turn 4. Kasten retook the lead in Turn 9a and charged ahead to earn the win.
