Score one for the editor. NASA SoCal’s Brett Becker started from 16th at the Spec Miata season opener at a wet Willow Springs International Raceway in February. Penalized for weighing in 10 pounds under in qualifying, Becker clawed his way from dead last to fifth in one lap. A good start, rain tires and openings where he needed them certainly helped. He held fifth place to the finish, despite challenges from sixth- and seventh-place cars, then was bumped up to fourth due a DQ ahead of him.
