The Six Hours of Utah is a highlight each July on the Western Endurance Racing Championship calendar. It attracts teams from across the western United States and the front of the field is always packed with wonderful machinery, and this year’s race kept that tradition.
Among a pack of prototypes, Riot Racing’s Porsche 991.1 GT3 Cup car, driven by Michael Shumway, makes a quick avoidance move on the start and then is able to overtake a prototype that was gridded ahead of him. It’s a fun first lap at the track that will be the site of the 2024 NASA Championships.
With six more hours of racing in front of him, Shumway settled in for a long night of racing. When the checkers flew just after midnight, Team Riot finished with the ES class win.
