Prices on the first-generation Cadillac CTS-V have now come down into donor car territory, which makes for another great candidate for American Iron, ST and Time Trial competition. Of course, track use can usher in some inevitable mechanical, uh, challenges.

This Move of the Month comes to us from Chris Drum, a NASA Mid-Atlantic TT3 racer who is campaigning a first-gen CTS-V. Drum was hot-footing around Virginia International Raceway when his engine suddenly let go in rather spectacular fashion — as you will see in the photos below.

We would love to have seen his reactions behind the wheel to keep the car pointed forward and off the tire walls not far off track. Hopefully he’ll get it put back together in time to enjoy more of the 2022 season, but we’re glad he spared his car and shared the video.
